A Tribute in Thread: The Story Behind the Ladybower Collection

When I design a collection, I look for stories that carry both beauty and meaning — threads that connect past and present. The Ladybower Collection, part of our Autumn Collection, is exactly that. Inspired by Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District, it’s a place of calm waters and rolling hills, but beneath its surface lies a story of memory and resilience.

Ladybower resevoir

In the 1940s, the villages of Derwent and Ashopton were submerged to make way for the reservoir. Families left their homes, communities were uprooted, and entire histories slipped beneath the water. Today, when the reservoir runs low, parts of those villages sometimes reappear — haunting reminders that while landscapes change, the past is never entirely lost. It was this mix of beauty and poignancy that became the heart of the Ladybower Collection.

To capture that feeling, I chose a warm beige and green wildflower print from Rose & Hubble Fabrics, lovingly handmade here in Nottingham. The colours feel perfectly suited to autumn: soft earth tones, muted greens, and the gentle romance of fading wildflowers. It’s a fabric that whispers of the countryside — natural, grounding, and quietly elegant.

The collection itself offers something for everyone. There are self-tie bow ties for tradition, pre-tied bow ties for ease, and classic neckties for timeless style. To complete the look, you’ll find matching pocket squares and cufflinks, and we’ve even created children’s bow ties so the whole wedding party can share in the story.

For me, the Ladybower Collection is more than fabric and thread — it’s a tribute. A way of honouring the beauty of the Peak District, the history hidden beneath its waters, and the soft, earthy tones of the season. Whether you’re tying a bow tie for a wedding or adding a pocket square to your autumn suit, I hope you feel the same connection I do: that style can carry a story, and that every detail can mean something.

with Love
